The present and future of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer
We are honored to have been invited to edit this issue of Translational Andrology and Urology (TAU) on “Current management of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer”. We extend our heartfelt thanks toward all editorial team members of TAU.
Our goal was to put together an UpToDate guide for all urologists and researchers pursuing the improvement of their knowledge on non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. As guest editors of the present issue of TAU, we tried to provide insight on all aspects concerning non-muscle invasive bladder cancer starting from its epidemiology, passing through the description of new technical aspects of transurethral resection, leading to postoperative management including the identification of candidates for radical surgery or intravesical instillation therapy. A special space was reserved for new advancements in the area such as new technologies for tumor visualization, biomarkers as well as new methods of treatment of this disease. We have invited several distinguished authors with experience in the field of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer to contribute to this issue with the involvement of the young academic urologists' working group on urothelial cancer of the European Association of Urology building its core. We thank all the authors for their tremendous effort to make the present issue a success. Especially, we would like to thank our residents, medical students and research fellows for their contributions to this special issue.
