CU 30. Retroperitoneoscopic partial nephrectomy for small renal cell carcinoma (report of 11 cases)
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of laparoscopic partial nephrectomy in the treatment of renal cell carcinoma.
Methods: Retroperitoneoscopic partial nephrectomy was performed in 11 cases of small renal cell carcinoma. The mean tumor diameter was 3.2 (range 2.0-4.5) cm. Operation time, postoperative hospital stay time, the way and time of block, blood lose, postoperative complications and effect were observed.
Results: Retroperitoneoscopic partial nephrectomy was performed in the 11 cases successfully. The mean operation time was 140 (range from 120-160) min. The meam blood lose was 120 (range from 50-250) mL. The mean renal artery blood flow occlusion time was 30 (range from 25-45) min. And the mean postoperative hospitalization stay time was 6 (range from 5-7) d. The renal margin of the all cases after surgical were negative. With the mean followed-up of 8 months (range from 3-12 months). No recurrence was observed in this 11 cases and no case was observed to have functional loss of the remaining kidney on intravenous urography.
Conclusions: Retroperitoneoscopic partial nephrectomy is a safe and effective procedure for small renal cell carcinoma with less trauma and bleeding, shorter postoperative hospital stay and quicker recovery. It can be an alternative to open surgery.
