ED 03. Analysis of 11,962 cases of adverse drug reactions caused by sildenafil citrate during 10 years

The aim of the investigation is to provide helpful guide to the normative and reasonable usage of sildenafil by analyzing and summarizing its total ADR case reports since its license by U.S.Food and Durg Administration (FDA) in 1998. All ADRs of sildenafil were investigated from WHO drug ADR database and analyzed statistically. The ordinary ADRs of Sildenafil are mainly involved in cardiovascular system, nervous system and digestive system. The incidence of the serious ADRs of sildenafil, e.g., death, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and priapism is decreased year by year. In conclusion, normative and reasonable usage of sildenafil is needed to be propagated in order to avoid the serous ADRs and the new clinical treatment to pulmonary hypertension, neurogenesis and female sexual dysfunction of this agent should be cautions.
