A comprehensive review of contemporary reconstructive urology

Boyd R. Viers, Allen F. Morey

Abstract

The term “reconstruction” implies restoration of both form and function, and in urology the breadth and depth of surgical solutions to restore the urinary tract are expansive. I find it easiest to categorize the contemporary landscape of reconstructive urologic surgery in to different silos as follows: (I) urethral stricture disease; (II) prosthetic surgery; (III) trauma and complex urinary reconstruction; (IV) andrology and infertility; (V) transitional urology, and (VI) gender affirmation surgery. In this focused edition we will explore some of the most important and high-yield topics to date pertaining to the first four of these categories.
